To prevent a touch-panel function from operating for touch unintended by a photographer, without increasing costs.
A CPU 24 reads using a light sensor 21 and at predetermined time intervals the amount of light entering a display screen and determines if the amount of ambient light of the display screen has changed by a predetermined amount or more; if the amount has changed by the predetermined amount or more, when an object touches the display screen a determination is made as to whether the object has a fingerprint. If there is no fingerprint, a determination is made as to whether the area of contact of the object touching the display screen is equal to or less than a predetermined area; if the area of contact is not less than the predetermined area, the operation of the touch-panel function is prohibited on the assumption that the contact is unintended, such as a photographer's nose touching the display screen by mistake.
