PURPOSE: To guarantee the quality accurately with a higher testing reliability by performing an electrostatic discharge testing making a discharge electrode automatically approach or retreat an object to be tested to uniformize the discharging time interval.
CONSTITUTION: A reciprocative driving unit 11 is provided with a discharge electrode 10 at the tip of a spindle 11a and reciprocates the spindle 11a with a reciprocating mechanism to advance or retract the discharge electrode 10. Then, the discharge electrode 10 is mounted on a stand 9 in such a manner that the electrode 10 advances to cause a discharge as approaching an object 1 to be tested. Then, a capacitor 6a is charged to a voltage specified by a voltage dial 7a. Upon the completion of the charging, a changeover switch 6c is turned to a high voltage generation circuit 6 and the reciprocative driving unit 11 is driven with a reciprocative driving control circuit 13 so that the tip of the discharge electrode 10 approaches a specified point of the object 1 being tested and causes a discharge as reaching a specified distance. Then, the discharge electrode 10 is retracted.
