To provide an engine control unit capable of accurately detecting recovery from a misfire, even if delay compensation for ignition timing is performed.
An engine control unit includes: an ignition plug 11 for ignition at set ignition timing; pressure detection means 30 for detecting pressure in a combustion chamber; exhaust gas temperature detection means 14; misfire detection means 16 and 17 for detecting a misfire based on pressure in a combustion chamber; ignition timing adjustment means 18 for delaying ignition timing until the time, an ignition set period elapses after a top dead center or thereafter, when the set ignition timing is set at the timing earlier than the top dead center by the ignition set period and a misfire is detected; and misfire recovery detection means 14, 16, and 17 for detecting recovery from a misfire after a delay for ignition timing, based on exhaust gas temperature, detected by the exhaust gas temperature detection means 14 after delayed ignition timing, or a detected combustion chamber pressure, detected by the pressure detection means 30.
