Title:
EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROL DEVICE FOR ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2010168978
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To detect concentration abnormality of urea water to be supplied into exhaust gas for reducing a concentration of nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas without using an expensive concentration sensor.

An exhaust emission control device 10 for an engine 14 includes: a catalyst 18 installed in an exhaust gas passage 12 and reducing the nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas; a tank 16 storing urea water; and a urea water supply means 22 supplying the urea water in the tank 16 in to the exhaust gas passage at an upstream of the catalyst 18, and also includes: a temperature detection means 32 detecting temperature in the tank 16; a freeze determination means determining if the urea water in the tank 16 freezes or not; and a concentration determination means determining concentration abnormality of the urea water when the freeze determination means determines that the urea water freezes and temperature detected by the temperature detection means 32 is not less than a prescribed temperature.
