Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber-reinforced resin composition, containing a polyolefin resin and specific cross-linked polyolefin fibers in a specified proportion, excellent in mechanical characteristics such as rigidity and strength, environmental stress cracking resistance and lightweight properties and useful for blow molded containers, etc., such as containers for toiletries.
CONSTITUTION: This fiber-reinforced resin composition contains (A) 50-90wt.% polyolefin resin such as polyethylene (especially the one having 0.01-10g/10min melt flow rate measured under condition 4 of JIS K7210), polypropylene or a copolymer of ethylene and an α-olefin (e.g. 1-butene or 1-hexene) and (B) 50-10wt.% cross-linked polyolefin fibers having ≥30GPa tensile elastic modulus and <40ergs/cm2 surface free energy (e.g. those prepared by drawing and orienting polyethylene fibers and then cross-linking the drawn fibers by radiation).
