Abstract:

To provide a fiber structure that has high porosity as well in spite of its dense structure resulting from ultrafine fibers and exhibits excellent performance in a variety of uses such as a filter and a separator, and a method of producing the same.

The fiber structure constituted of ultrafine fibers of a fiber diameter of 1 to 1,000 nm is characterized by keeping cut fibers dispersed and blended therein having a fiber diameter of 3 to 50 μm and a fiber length of 3 to 20 mm in a ratio of 35 to 80 wt.% relative to the weight of the fiber structure. The fiber structure is produced by applying a high voltage to a spinning solution to spin an ultrafine fiber using a spinning member, and collecting the spun ultrafine fiber by a collecting member disposed to face the spinning member with a space in between while feeding and dispersing the cut fibers into the space to concurrently collect the cut fibers and the ultrafine fibers.
