To provide a file search system and a program for performing a further effective search in a file search environment in which files to be full-text searched and files out of full-text search exist by forming different index files with respect to the files to be full-text searched and the files out of full-text search.
The file search system includes a file search server 1, a file server 4 and a client 3 which are connected through a communication line 9 in a communicable manner. The file search server 1 includes a metadata search means which selects, upon receipt of a search request from the client 3, a metadata matching record from an index 2 file 22 based on a search condition expression; a full-text search means which searches an index 1 file 21 in reference to a keyword based on the search condition expression and the metadata matching record; and a means which transmits the search result to the client 3.
