PURPOSE: To obtain high superdeflectivity within a desired wavelength range by orienting the molecules of a specific film having an amphiphilic compd. in the same direction asymmetrically with the center line in parallel with each other.
CONSTITUTION: The film is composed of at least one piece of the monomolecular layer having the amphiphilic compd. In this film, the layer contains a compd. expressed by formula I or consists of the compd. In such a case, the molecules thereof are oriented in the same direction asymmetrically with the center line in parallel with each other. In many cases, the direction is substantially perpendicular to the plane of the upper layer. The film otherwise consists of at least two pieces of the monomolecular layers consisting of the different compsns. in order to constitute the more dense film under the maintenance of the asymmetry with the center line. In such a case, the layers contg. the compd. respectively expressed by formula I or consisting of the compd. are respectively exchanged with the layers contg. another amphiphilic compd. or consisting thereof. As a result, the ideal compds. are capable of having the high superdeflectivity without extreme absorption in the desired wavelength range.
