Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully use a small dia. wood, an end part of wood or waster building lumber without wastefully discarding it by first adjusting the moisture content of a woody material, then pressurizing it at a high temperature for a specified time and instantaneously releasing pressure to generate a steam explosion in the woody material and further, partially or entirely splitting a fibrous bond along fibers.
SOLUTION: Green wood 1, 2, 3 or an end part of wood or waste building lumber 5 are used as a woody material. This woody material is cut using a rotary saw to obtain a woody material of specified length 6 and the moisture content of the material is adjusted using a water spray means 7 or a water soaking means 8. Next, the pieces of the woody material of specified length 6 are piled up in an enclosure 9a in such a manner that the pieces of the woody material 6 are in parallel with each other in the longitudinal direction. Further, the enclosure 9a is stored in an explosion device 9, and the woody material 6 is thermally pressurized by a hot press 9b. After this procedure, pressure is instantaneously released to generate a stream explosion in the piled pieces of the woody material to obtain rupture splinters 10. In this case, the fibrous bond is partially or entirely split along fibers depending upon thermal pressurizing conditions to form a desired shape such as powder 10a, cottonlike 10b, stringlike 10c or fine cotton sticklike 10d.
