Abstract:

To obtain the subject composition excellent in appearance, slight in discoloration, having antimicrobial properties, by compounding a thermoplastic aromatic polyester with an inorganic filter, a bromine based flame-retardant, a specific flame-retardant auxiliary and a prescribed zeolite.

This composition is obtained by compounding (A) 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic aromatic polyester with (B) 0-150 pts.wt. of an inorganic filler, (C) 10-100 pts.wt. of a bromine-based flame retardant (e.g. brominated polycarbonate), (D) 2-70 pts.wt. of an antimony-based flame-retardant auxiliary (e.g. sodium antimonate), (E) 1-50 pts.wt. of an ant imicrobial zeolite prepared by replacing at least a part of an ion exchangeable ion in a zeolite with an antimicrobial metal ion and, if required, (F) 20-80 pts.wt. of an aromatic polycarbonate. A mixture of 10-90 wt.% of a polyethylene terephthalate and 90-10 wt.% of a polybutylene terephthalate is preferably used as the component A.
