PURPOSE: To enable the rapid and easy practice of modification in a sliding contact part for a bend of a flat bar.

CONSTITUTION: This flat bar for a carding engine is cutting out both ends in the longitudinal direction of a flat bar body 1 into a planar shape, forming a planar part 11 opposite to the outer periphery of a bend 4, grinding and installing a dovetail groove 12 extending in the longitudinal direction in the planar part, bringing a sliding piece 20, comprising a synthetic resin molding, having sliding contact surfaces 6 and 7 for the bend 4 on the front surface side thereof and protrusively installing a dovetail 21 fitting into the dovetail groove 12 on the back surface side thereof into contact with the planar part 11 of the flat bar body, pressing the dovetail 21 into the dovetail groove 12, and engaging the dovetail with the dovetail groove 12 in the state of the dovetail 21 fitted into the dovetail groove 12.
