To provide an air conditioner that performs dehumidification even during a cooling operation with a small amount of circulating refrigerant.
When a flow channel switching valve 51 is arranged at the inlet or outlet of an evaporator for cooling having a plurality of paths through which a refrigerant flows, a first configuration using a first channel 21 can perform a cooling operation by the entire evaporator. A second or third configuration can perform the cooling operation as an evaporator by allowing the refrigerant to flow through some of the paths. Accordingly, an air conditioning apparatus having the flow channel switching valve 51 enables the refrigerant to flow only into a first indoor heat exchanger part 40a and a second indoor heat exchanger part 40b by switching the flow channel switching valve 51 to the second configuration by a controller part 8 in a cooling operation, so that only a part of the indoor heat exchanger part 40 can serve as the evaporator. Consequently, the use capacity of the indoor heat exchanger part 40 becomes small. When the use capacity of the indoor heat exchanger part 40 becomes small without any change in a blast volume to the indoor heat exchanger part 40, sucked air is dehumidified without being deprived of a large amount of sensible heat.
