Title:
FOAMABLE CROSSLINKED RESIN PARTICLE AND MOLDED FOAM PREPARED THEREFROM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11269300
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain foamable crosslinked resin particles which give molded foams which, when incinerated, generate little heat of combustion, black smoke, residual melt, and ash by using a polymer which is formed from an acrylic monomer and/or a methacrylic monomer and has a specified crosslink density.

The crosslink density is 10-70%. An acrylic crosslinker and/or a methacrylic crosslinker is used as the crosslinker, pref. in an amt. of 0.05-2.5 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. monomer. Pref., a chain transfer agent is used in an amt. of 0.03-3.0 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. monomer. The residual monomer content in the foamable crosslinked resin particles is set at 0.6 wt.% or lower. Pref., an easily volatile blowing agent in an amt. of 4-10 wt.% is incorporated into the particles. The monomer is selected so that the heat of combustion is 5,500-6,500 cal/g. The amt. of a styrene monomer used is limited to less than 10 wt.% of the monomer.
