1536444 Step-ladders; movable treads G LOIX 21 May 1976 [26 May 1975 15 April 1976] 21070/76 Heading E1S A staircase or step-ladder which is, in the preferred embodiment, convertible into a hand trolley (Fig. 8), has treads, e.g. 15, which are pivotally mounted on upper, 2, and lower, 1, stringers, the treads being spaced above the lower stringers by, e.g. blocks (9), Fig. 3 (not shown) to keep them horizontal at different angles of elevation, the stringers being pivotally mounted at their upper ends between arms 3, and being arranged so that they can be brought up into a horizontal position, Fig. 2 (not shown) where the upper stringers 2 sit on the lower stringers 1, and the treads form a horizontal platform. In the step-ladder/hand trolley conversion (Figs. 7-11) (Figs. 9, 11 not shown) latching bars 33 and 42 are provided to restrain the apparatus in one or the other configuration, and a platform 52 is provided, pivotally mounted on supports 19, 20. Wheels 51 (Fig. 7) may be provided at the bottom of stringers 2, as may fixed wheels 25 and steering wheels 26.
