Title:
FRACTIONAL PREPARATION OF ALFALFA
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6485047
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce loss of defoliation and reduction in quality to the minimum, by semidrying harvested raw alfalfa, a leguminous plant at high temperature in a short time, removing leaves, using the leaves as a food or a concentrated feed and preparing the stems into a silage to give a crude feed.

CONSTITUTION: Alfalfa, a leguminous plant, is cut into about 10cm length immediately after reaping, semidried at high temperature about 100°C until the water content of leaves becomes about ≤15% and successively the leaves are separated from the stems by a leaf removing device. Then the alfalfa is classified into the stems and the leaves by a dividing device, the leaves are used as a concentrated feed or a food, the stems are packed into a silo, prepared into a silage and used as a crude feed. Consequently, loss of defoliation and reduction in quality can be suppressed to the minimum, high-quality leaves showing dark green can be obtained, the leaves of high protein are used as a feed for monogastric animals and further can be used as a food by purification.
