Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject friction material free from the problem of brake drag, exhibiting small dimensional change by thermal expansion and useful for automobile, etc., by adding a specific amount of a material having low thermal expansion coefficient to an organic dust.

CONSTITUTION: An organic dust such as rayon and aramid fiber is incorporated with 10-100wt.% (based on the dust) of a low-thermal expansion material having a linear expansion coefficient of as low as 1.0-1.9×10-5/deg, e.g. low-thermal expansion phenolic resin or barium sulfate.
