Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively deform a bent portion at the border between a member body and an inclined portion of a front side member and restrain action of a load on a dash panel by deforming longitudinal walls of the bent portion outward of the sections and reducing the sectional secondary moment when inputting the load.
SOLUTION: A fragile portion 20 is formed at the bent portion 1B where the front side member 1 with a closed section structure bends downward along an inclination of the dash panel 10 for permitting expansible deformation outward of sections of the longitudinal walls 3b, 3c of the bent portion 1B. A deformation inducing means 30 is provided in front of the bent portion 1B for inducing expansible deformation of the longitudinal walls 3b, 3c for the input load from the front part and reducing the sectional secondary moment. The bent portion 1B is positively deformed for increasing absorbing efficiency of the input energy. A deformation restraining means 40 is provided at the inclined portion 1C along the inclination of the dash panel 10 for preventing a cabin deformation.
