Abstract:

To provide a fuel injection device improving engine combustion and reducing black smoke (soot) and NOx by positively utilizing after injection.

The common rail type fuel injection device is characterize in that it comprises one or more shut-off valves for opening and closing a first nozzle group and a second nozzle group, the after injection is sequentially performed after the main injection in a high load region, fuel is injected from the first nozzle group and the second nozzle group in the main injection, fuel is injected from the first nozzle group in the after injection, actual injection pressure near the first nozzle group in the period of the after injection is higher than actual injection pressure near the first nozzle group in the period of the main injection, after the shut-off valve opens the first nozzle group to start injection, the shut-off valve simultaneously or in a short period of time opens also the second nozzle group to perform the main injection, the after injection is performed after the shut-off valve closes the second nozzle group, simultaneously with the start of the after injection or after elapse of a period of time longer than the short period of time, the shut-off valve closes also the first nozzle group to terminate the injection.
