PURPOSE: To obtain the subject lightweight resin having high vibration-damping and sound insulation effects, excellent in workability, thus useful for the floor structural materials for vehicles or ships and for the floors or outer wall materials for buildings, comprising an asphalt, a synthetic rubber, a petroleum resin and a filler at specified proportions.
CONSTITUTION: This resin comprises (A) 15-35wt.% of an asphalt, (B) 2-10wt.% of a synthetic rubber such as styrene-butadiene rubber, (C) 1-5wt.% of an aliphatic or aromatic petroleum resin, and (D) 50-75wt.% of a filler pref. composed of (i) 10-25wt.% of an inorganic lightweight aggregate, (ii) 35-50wt.% of a powdery filler, (iii) 3-8wt.% of a fibrous filter, and (iv) 2-5wt.% of quick lime. The objective structural body is obtained by bringing this resin into contact with a metallic structural body followed by heating to 100-250°C to effect fusion bonding of the resin to the metallic structural body.
