The garbage disposer including the lid 51 rotatably provided on a body 31 having a garbage accommodating section 32 that accommodates the garbage, a heating means 34 that heats the garbage, a fan 39, a ventilation motor 37 that has a brake function and drives the fan 39, a deodorizing device 40 that deodorizes an odor in a steam generated when the garbage is heated, an exhausting means 44 that sucks the steam from the garbage accommodating section 32 to the deodorizing device 40 and exhausts the steam ouside, a stirring/driving device 49 that crushes and stirs the garbage in the garbage accommodating section 32, and a detecting section 61 that detects the opening/closing of the lid 51, wherein the fan 39 is instantaneously suspended with the brake function if an opening status of the lid 51 is detected by the detecting section 61 during the operation, is provided.
