PURPOSE: To certainly decompose garbage by the action of bacteria by preventing that stirring blades are stopped in such a state that they are exposed from a packing material by the hooking of garbage with the stirring blades and allowing garbage to be present within the packing material even at the time of the stop of stirring.
CONSTITUTION: In a garbage treatment apparatus 1 wherein a stirrer 5 stirring a packing material 11 is provided in a treatment tank 3 receiving the packing material 11 and garbage 12 to be intermittently driven, the stirrer 5 is temporarily reversed at the time of the completion of stirring. The stirring blades 7 of the stirrer 5 are provided only to the almost semicircle of a rotary shaft 6 and all of the stirring blades 7 are allowed to stop in the state present within the packing material 11.
