Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas-phase catalytic oxidation method which is suitable to produce, for example, unsaturated aldehydes, suppressing generation of hot spots, and allowing to use a catalyst for a long time and operate at high selectivity and high yield safely, by using a multitube heat-exchanger-type reactor having a specific reaction tube.
SOLUTION: This gas-phase catalytic oxidation (e.g. oxidation of propylene, isobutylene, t-butanol, or methyl-t-butyl ether to corresponding unsaturated aldehydes and unsaturated carboxylic acids by molecular oxygen) comprises using a multitube heat-exchanger-type reactor having a specific reaction tube 1, wherein a heat-resistant rod 2 is placed in the axial central part of the reaction tube 1 which is filled with a catalyst 4. Preferably, a plurality of small projection-like supports 3 are placed so that rod 2 is fixed in the axial central part of the reaction tube 1.
