Title:
GLOSSY MIZUHIKI (STIFF PAPER STRINGS USED FOR DECORATING A PRESENT FOR FORMAL OCCASIONS)
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH07138857
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a glossy MIZUHIKI excellent in brightness, elegance and grace by forming a decorative sheath layer on the outside of a twisted paper core and subsequently further putting a colored coating layer containing a fluorescent substance on the outer periphery in layers.

CONSTITUTION: Japanese paper is cut into narrow-width pieces and a twisted paper string is then formed by intertwisting them. After applying ricestarch to the twisted paper sting, it is dried and solidified to form a twisted paper core. A thin and long piece of a metal foil, a metal deposited film or a composite deposited metal film prepared by monolithically bonding an aluminium foil, paper or a nonwoven fabric through an adhesive layer to the film is wound around the twisted paper core without forming a gap to obtain a MIZUHIKI. Further, the resultant MIZUHIKI is coated with a colored coating material composed of casein or a synthetic resin respectively containing a fluorescent dye, a fluorescent pigment or a fluorescent bleaching agent, thus the glossy MIZUHIKI is produced.
