To obtain new glycosides having action capable of controlling immune system of warm-blooded animals and usable as an active substance in medicines for treating tumor and viral diseases by separating from an aqueous extract of a plant pollen.
The new glycosides are represented by formula I (R is H or a group comprising two or more hexose residues; Z is H or a group, etc., represented by formula II). The glycosides have effectiveness controlling an immune system of warm-blooded animals and are useful as an active substance, etc., in medicines for treating tumor and viral diseases. The glycosides are obtained by extracting pollen of a plant such as rye with a mixed solvent of water with acetone at 30-32°C over 48hr under stirring, filtering the mixture, drying the resultant extract under vacuum to afford plant pollen extract, dissolving the extract in a distilled water and dialyzing the solution with a dialysis membrane for separating a substance having ≤1000 dalton by filtration and then, purifying the dialyzed solution with a high performance liquid chromatography.
