To provide a metal golf club head which enhances the fitting accuracy of a shaft, facilitates the manufacture, and has high strength, and its manufacturing method.

A golf club head is provided with a face member 10 and a head main body hollow part 12 which is positioned in the rear of the face member 10, has a hollow shape, and has an opened face fitting part 14. A shaft fitting pipe 24 is welded to the head main body hollow part 12 and the face member 10 is welded to the face fitting part 14. The fitting angle of the shaft fitting pipe 24 is set univocally in such states that a pipe holding recess part 30 which is in contact with the shaft fitting pipe 24 and sets the fitting angle of the head main body hollow part, 12 and the shaft fitting pipe 24 is provided in the welding position of the shaft fitting pipe 24, and the shaft fitting pipe 24 is brought into contact with the pipe holding recess part 30.
