Abstract:
To provide a grain refining method for the cast article of a magnesium alloy, which can improve the mechanical properties by refining crystal structures without generating dioxin.
This method for refining the crystal grains in the cast structure comprises adding a pure carbon (C) powder, or niobium pentoxide 0(Nb2O5) or divanadium pentoxide (V2O5) together with the carbon (C) source, into a molten magnesium alloy containing aluminum (Al) and manganese (Mn).
