PURPOSE: To improve the correction accuracy in such a way that in the captioned correcting method for the honing tool which expands and contracts the grinding stone by reciprocating a connecting rod, correction of the grinding stone is done by means of a regular connecting rod, so that honing can be done as it is.

CONSTITUTION: A measuring plate 25 is fitted into a fitting hole 14 of a holder 13, and both ends of a connecting rod 4 are supported by means of a center 31. While a honing tool 1 is being turned, protrusion rate of each measuring plate 25 on the same circumference is measured by means of a measuring instrument 32. If the protrusion rate differs, since the connecting rod 4 is not positioned at the center of the tool body 2, an adjusting screw 29 is reciprocated, the protruded piece part 10 of a split ring 8 is displaced, and the protrusion rate of the measuring plates 25 are adjusted. Then, the measuring plates 25 are removed, a grinding stone is brought into contact with the conic face part 5 of a connecting rod 4 under pressure, fixed, and the outer peripheral face of the grinding stone is corrected by means of a correcting tool, and after removing the adjusting screw, honing is done.
