PURPOSE: To ensure a long life gun barrel excellent in heat resistance, burning/ corrosion resistance, and wear resistance by fitting a ceramics liner to an inner surface of a cylindrical outer cylinder composed of gun barrel steel, and coupling the outer cylinder and the liner in a united manner.
CONSTITUTION: A gun barrel 1 comprises an outer cylinder 2 and a liner 3, and the outer cylinder 2 comprises gun barrel steel. The liner 3 is a ceramics one where an outer surface 3a is fitted to an inner surface 2 of the outer surface, which has a length equal to the outer cylinder 2 and is pressure inserted into the outer cylinder 2 with shrink fitting and is fixed in a united manner. Once propellant is combusted, although an inner surface of the gun barrel 1 is wholly exposed to high temperature high pressure corrosive gas, ceramics is very high in heat resistance and corrosion resistance, so that melting and exfoliation are prevented from happening in an inner surface of the gun barrel 1. Further, since the ceramics is small in a friction coefficient, so that the inner surface of the gun barrel 1 is also excellent in wear resistance.
