Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an agent for masking the irritating odor of diethylene glycol monoethers, useful for obtaining hair cosmetics free from the irritating odor by adding one or more of specific oils such as lemon MAPPU oil.
SOLUTION: This agent for masking the irritating odor of a diethylene glycol monoether of formula I {R1 is a 1-20C alkyl or alkenyl, or a group of formula II [(n) is 0-4; R2 is H, methyl or methoxy]} contains one or more compounds selected from lemon map oil (R), orange terpene oil, jasmonic acid methyl ester, hydrojasmonic acid methyl ester, lilial, α-, β- or γ-damascone, α-, β- or γ- damascenone, eugenol, isoeugenol, methyleugenol, carnation oil, and clove oil as an active ingredient. A hair cosmetic preferably contains 0.01-30 wt.% of the diethylene glycolether and 0.005-10 wt.% of the masking agent.
