A hair treating agent composition contains at least one component of polyoxybutylene polyoxyethylene polyoxypropylene glyceryl ether and lauroyl lysine. The hair treating agent composition further contains a stearyl alcohol and an amphoteric surfactant. The content of the stearyl alcohol is preferably 0.5 to 10 mass%. When the stearyl alcohol is defined as a first higher alcohol, the hair treating agent composition further contains a second higher alcohol different from the first higher alcohol. The total amount of the higher alcohols in the hair treating agent composition is preferably 20 or less in terms of the mass ratio to the first higher alcohol.
