Title:
HANDWRITING CHARACTER RECOGNIZING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0620101
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a handwriting character recognizing method capable of improving the operability of a candidate selection by designating a character type by setting the selection state of a recognized character candidate after a handwritten character is inputted.

CONSTITUTION: A handwritten input board program stored in a ROM 2 receives a recognition result (including candidates, character type information) from a handwritten recognition program and displays a first candidate at the location of a cursor on a display 4. Further, by limiting an input mode, a recognition ratio can be improved. For instance, when 'CHIKARA' (power in English) is inputted, the both of 'CHIKARA' in KANJI (Chinese character) and 'KA' in KATAKANA; the square form of KANA (Japanese syllabary) appear as a recognition candidate, the recognition result can be limited as the 'CHIKARA' in 'KANJI' by limiting the character type to 'KANJI'. Namely when a character is in inputted without converging a character type at the time of inputting at a handwriting input device, the convergence of the character type becomes possible even after the state becomes a candidate selection state after the character is inputted and the efficiency of the candidate selection is improved.
