PURPOSE: To prevent the heat insulation layer of a heat roll from losing its heat insulating effect, deforming, and deteriorating and to improve its durability by dispersing hollow or porous hard particles in the heat insulating layer.

CONSTITUTION: The heat roll 11 has a rotary shaft 13, the heat insulating layer 15 formed on the surface of the rotary shaft, and a resistance heat generating layer 17 laminated on the surface of the heat insulating layer 15, in which hollow or porous hard particles 23 are dispersed. Many empty rooms formed in the hollow or porous hard particles secure the heat insulation of the heat insulating layer 15 and the particles are hard, so the total rigidity of the heat insulating layer 15 is improved. Consequently, the heat roll 11 is prevented from deforming and deteriorating owing to temperature variation and the durability of the heat roll 11 is improved.
