PURPOSE: The title fibers having improved hand, a low coefficient of friction with metal, free from fusion in drawing and sticky feeling, comprising a blend of a specific(saponified)ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and an inorganic filler on the fiber surface.

CONSTITUTION: Fibers comprising a resin blend consisting of (A) 70W99 wt.% of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer with a vinyl acetate content of 3W40 wt.%, preferably 10W30 wt.% or its saponified one, and (B) 1W30 wt.% of an inorganic filler, wherein said blend forms at least part of the fiber surfaces. The fibers may be manufactured by melt spinning and drawing the resin blend alone or by composite melt spinning and drawing the blend with other fiber-forming thermoplastic reins, e.g. polypropylene.
