To provide a heating cooker having a vertical opening door, where the door does not return to a closing position even when a user carelessly releases a hand from the door during opening the door, an arm mechanism hung between the door and a body housing is not needed, and the door can be firmly closed.
This heating cooker 1 includes the hollow body housing 3 having a cooking chamber 2 opened at its front face, the door 5 for opening and closing an opening 2a of the cooking chamber 2, a hinge mechanism 6 supporting the door 5 pivotally on a lower end of the door 5, a lock mechanism 11 having claws 8, 9 engaged with each other at a position where the door 5 closes the opening 2a, respectively on a door 5 side and a body housing 3 side to control opening motion of the door 5, and a buffering device 12 disposed on the hinge mechanism 6 for reducing a rotating speed in opening the door 5.
