Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:An N-perfluoroalkyl-N-hydroxyarylsulfonamide derivative of the formula (Rf is lower perfluoroalkyl; R is aryl).

EXAMPLE: N-Trifluoromethyl-N-hydroxybenzenesulfonamide.

USE: Ferbicide: it shows strong herbicidal effect only by foliage treatment, being capable of withering objective grasses after emergence and further it can be applied to a variety of weeds in nonfarm lands such as playgrounds, vacant lands or railroads as well as farm lands such as crop fields, paddy fields or orchards. The amount of application is suitably 0.05W10kg/ha as the active ingredient.

PREPARATION: For example, the reaction of a nitrosoperfluoroalkane of the formula: RfNO with a sulfonylhydrazide of the formula: RSO2NHNH2 is carried out, preferably at -30W50°C in a solvent to give the compound of the formula.
