Title:
HIERARCHICAL PREDICTING METHOD FOR MOTION IN TELEVISION SIGNAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH07203451
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the costs of a circuit necessary for motion prediction where non-overlapping pixel blocks are produced at a lower hierarchy level with high resolution, while the center of gravity and critical points are produced at a higher hierarchy level. CONSTITUTION: An overlapped range U is constituted of two blocks 1 and 2. In operating motion prediction, only a thickly plotted cross 3 in the first hierarchy step is checked at first, and for example, when a point 4a is judged to be optimal, only points 4d, 4c, 4d, and 4e in the surrounding of that point are considered, and evaluation is performed in the neighborhood of that point. At the time of evaluation, eight points indicated by finely plotted X marks 4 in the blocks 1 and 2 are used, and a necessary circuit is assigned. It is checked whether or not the search of 1/2 pixels in the surrounding of one pixel value are overlapped, and whether or not each 1/2 pixel value belongs at least to the two hierarchy search ranges, and the diagonal line belongs to four search ranges.
