PURPOSE: To facilitate hue adjustment by inputting a color difference signal of a simple MUSE down-converter to a hue adjustment circuit in an EDTV system signal processing circuit.
CONSTITUTION: Selectors 107, 108 use a discrimination signal to discriminate the EDTV processing and the MUSE down-converter 101, processing. In the case of output processing of the converter 101, when existing system decoding signals of color difference signals 103, 104 are processed, a color difference signal of a detection circuit 106 is selected and signals at the selectors 107, 108 are given to a hue adjustment circuit 109, in which they are multiplied with a matrix coefficient 120, the level to the luminance signal is adjusted to apply relative hue adjustment. Thus, even when an output of the converter 101 is inputted to the hue adjustment circuit 109 in the EDTV system signal processing circuit 201, the hue adjustment is easily implemented without deteriorating the vertical resolution of the color signal.
