Title:
HIGH FREQUENCY VACUUM MELTING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3899574
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable supplying of additional charge and discharging of melted metal smoothly by a method wherein a mobile side wall of a water cooled metal-made crucible is supported making it vertically movable while coils arranged respectively on a fixed bottom part to be fitted into the side wall and outside the side wall are both securely supported.
SOLUTION: In a water cooled metal-made crucible 1, a water cooled fixed bottom part 1a independent of a side wall is movably fitted vertically into a water cooled cylindrical mobile wall 1b made up of a segment which is split into a plurality of parts with vertical slits in the circumferential direction thereof. An induction heating coil 2 and the fixed bottom part 1a are designed to be fixed in position and the mobile side wall 1b is movable vertically. In the initial charging stage, the fixed bottom part 1a of the crucible 1 is housed into an inner lower part of the mobile side wall 1b and a filling space for an initially charging material 3 is formed at an upper part of the crucible 1. After the end of melting, the side wall 1b alone of the crucible is moved downward and the metal adhering thereto is undergoes an induction heating while being melted by sensible heat of the melted metal 5 to accomplish the cleaning of the side wall. Then, the melted metal is discharged.
