PURPOSE: To simplify the structure while to improve the controlling performance, in a system comprising a tandem intensifier and a pair of high pressure pumps for pressing feeding the high pressure primary liquid alternatively into respective primary liquid chamber, by employing a multi-plunger pump for the high pressure pump.
CONSTITUTION: The high pressure producing apparatus is comprised of a tandem intensifier (pressure converter) 7 and a pair of high pressure pumps 4A, 4B for pressure feeding the high pressure primary liquid alternatively to respective primary liquid pressure chamber 8, 8'. Here a multi-plunger pump having the plungers 50W53 to be reciprocated by a cam shaft 31 rotated through a motor is employed for the high pressure pump 4A (4B) to couple the pressure chamber 40a to be defined with a barrel 40 and a plunger 50 directly with the flow path 10 while the pressure chambers 41aW43a to be defined with the barrels 41W43 and the plungers 51W53 with the flow path 10 through one-way valves 61W63. Respective plunger 50W53 is arranged to start lifting sequentially while lagging by predetermined angle.
