Title:
HIGH STRENGTH FERROUS ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04304343
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a high strength ferrous alloy having toughness equal to that of amorphous ferrous alloy, free from the occurrence of embrittlement due to heating, and superior in tensile strength to amorphous ferrous alloy.

CONSTITUTION: An amorphous ferrous alloy having a composition consisting of, by atom, 62-94% Fe, 5-12% of at least one element selected from Zr, Ti, Ta, and Hf, 0-25% of at least one element selected from V, Cr, Mn, Mo, and Nb, and 1-6% B is subjected to heating treatment at a temp. between the crystallization temp. and (the crystallization temp. +150°C), by which the high strength ferrous alloy having a crystalline structure where the ultrafine crystalline grains of FeB compound are dispersed in the structure of microcrystalline Fe matrix is obtained. This high strength ferrous alloy is superior in tensile strength to the original amorphous ferrous alloy and can be suitably used as fiber for fiber reinforcement.
