Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a high strength steel having superior strength and uniform elongation characteristic and excellent in weldability and fatigue characteristic by allowing a high strength steel, containing specific weight percentages of C, Si, Mn, and Cu, to contain plural kinds of Cu grains dissimilar in structure among Cu grains with bcc structure, Cu grains with 9R structure, and Cu grains with fcc structure in its crystalline grains.
SOLUTION: The high strength steel has a composition consisting of, by weight, ≤0.2% C, ≤3.0% Si, ≤3.0% Mn, 0.5-5.0% Cu, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The steel contains, in crystalline grains, two or more kinds of Cu grains dissimilar in structure among Cu grains with bcc structure, Cu grains with 9R structure, and Cu grains with fcc structure. Moreover, 0.3-3.0% Mo can be incorporated. Further, slight amount of one or more elements among Ni, Cr, Ti, Nb, V, and B can be incorporated. By this method, this steel can be applied, as a lightweight member, to a structural member for automobile used and a high strength member, e.g. for shipbuilding use.
