To provide a hoist braking device capable of materializing stable braking action without depending on adjustment when shipping or manual adjustment.
The hoist braking device includes: a brake shoe 8; an armature 7 connected to the brake shoe 8 through two rod members 4; two pressing springs 2 making the brake shoe 8 in a braking state pressed on a braking surface; and two electromagnetic coils 1 provided in a field 6, and aspirating the armature 7 by making a current to pass to bring the brake shoe 8 into a non-braking state separated from the braking surface. The hoist braking device includes two metallic plates 11, a distance detector 10 detecting a distance to the metallic plates 11 in the braking sate and the non-braking state, two pressure sensors 9 for measuring spring forces of the two pressing springs in the non-braking state, and a control portion individually controlling the current passing through the two electromagnetic coils 1 according to the detection result, and stabilizing the braking action.
