PURPOSE: To inexpensively form a hole which is high in its accuracy and satisfactory in tis thread coupling property, on a root end part of a sewing needle, by heating the root end part of a needle material of an oxidation resistance quality to a melting point or so, and pushing in a heat resistance tool.

CONSTITUTION: A needle material 1 of an oxidation resistance quality such as stainless steel, etc. is held by a holder 2. A root end part of the needle material 1 is heated to its melting point or the melting point or so by means of electrification, etc., and in this state, a heated drilling tool 4 is forcibly pushed into the root end part of the needle material 1, and after that, it is drawn out and a hole 5 is formed on the root end part of the needle material 1. In this case, as necessary, a beforehand hole is pierced in advance on the root end part of the needle material 1. Subsequently, a part which has projected due to formation of 5 is cut, and after that, an eyeless sewing needle having the hole 5 on the root end part is worked and molded.
