PURPOSE: A hollow fiber of a high molecular compound in which wall-thick parts that project outward from its wall surface continuously extend in the fiber-axis direction, thus being suitably used for hemodialysis, because it has high permeation selectivity, high strength and reduced adhesion to other fibers.
CONSTITUTION: A high-molecular compound such as cellulose acetate is dissolved in a solvent mixture such as of formamide and acetone to prepare a spinning dope. The spinning dope is dry-wet spun using a specific nozzle 3 that is composed of the inner nozzle for introducing the core solution 4 and a ring slit 5 with projections 6 for forming wall thick parts 2 on the outer surface and using, e.g., formamide as a core solution. The resultant fibers are hydrolyzed with an alkali to produce the objective hollow fiber 1 with riblike projections 2 extending along the fiber axis IV continuously on the fiber surface.
