To provide technology by which a honeycomb structural member comprising an SiC-Si composite material composed of Si or a Si alloy as a matrix and ceramic powder or ceramic fibers as a reinforcing material and a plate member of the SiC-Si composite material are surely joined in spite of large areas of each other's joined surfaces.
The honeycomb structure is manufactured by arranging a joining material composed of Al or an Al-Si alloy between the honeycomb structural member comprised of the SiC-Si composite material and the plate member comprised of the SiC-Si composite material and heat treating the material at a temperature equal to or above the melting point temperature of the joining material and equal to or below the melting point of the matrix metal of the SiC-Si composite material, thereby joining the honeycomb structural member and the plate member.
