The hot roller 10 for the treatment of a roll material, especially paper, is provided with a cylindrical roller body 14, at least one flange pivot 12, at least one inlet and outlet pipe 36 for thermal medium and plural circumferential holes or ducts 16 for guiding the thermal medium to the roller body 14 and arranged nearly parallel to the shaft. At least one collection space 28 is formed in the hot roller 10 at the end part of the circumferential hole or duct 16 to receive the condensed material formed by the condensation of the thermal medium.
