To provide a method for efficiently removing foreign matters mixed with wood chips being a product when waste wood produced in a building industry, forestry, a wookwork industry and the like is recycled to be processed into wood chips by a large capacity, and an apparatus therefor.

In the method for removing the foreign matters mixed with wood chips and the apparatus therefor, the foreign matters such as metal, mineral or concrete pieces having specific gravity larger than those of the wood chips mixed with the wood chips which are discharged from a device for sieving crushed waste wood into chips with required sizes, are stagnated in the apparatus by a weir 70 provided on a product guide plate 62 of the sieve device or taken out of a foreign matter takeout port 71 provided separately from a product discharge port 66'.
