To provide a method of processing conifer stumps by which the stumps occurring at land preparation sites in conifer woods or the like are utilized without disposing them as industrial wastes.
Conifer stumps left after felling are disintegrated into chips using an attachment type wood splitter connected to the hydraulic mechanism for a backhoe. The chips are delivered to a distribution center. The disintegrated chips are delivered to the users as a fragrant material. The users place the chips in the rooms or the like in which the fragrance is given off. After the fragrance is exhausted and the users finish using the chips, they are recovered back to the distribution center. The recovered chips are carbonized to charcoal with a charcoal kiln. Optionally, further crushed, the chips may be processed into pulp for paper making, utilized as a substitute for litter for livestock barns or a material for humus after mixed with soil.
