Abstract:
To provide a method for using a magnesium chloride storage container capable of appropriately controlling the growth of a deposit in an electrolytic cell in molten salt electrolysis done by using magnesium chloride, and a method for producing metal magnesium.SOLUTION: A method for using a magnesium chloride storage container according to the present invention is a method for using a storage container 1 that stores magnesium chloride MC generated by the reduction reaction of titanium tetrachloride with metal magnesium. The storage container 1 can store the magnesium chloride MC in a molten state and has a plurality of extraction tubes 3a, 3b in which tip openings 2a, 2b are arranged at positions different in depth direction. The method comprises a step in which the magnesium chloride MC is stored and left in the storage container 1 and a step in which the magnesium chloride MC is extracted from the storage container 1 and, in the extraction, extraction tubes selected from the plurality of extraction tubes 3a, 3b are used in accordance with the use of the magnesium chloride MC extracted.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
