To provide a hydraulic continuously variable transmission in which problems such as metal contact between a plunger and a cylinder block, wear, seizure, friction loss can be suppressed by smoothly operating the hydraulic continuously variable transmission while suppressing inclination of the plunger provided therein.

A hydraulic continuously variable transmission 10 includes a hydrostatic bearing mechanism 130 for supporting a plunger 120 which is inserted to a cylinder block 30 so as to reciprocate and slide from the outer circumferential side. The hydrostatic bearing mechanism 130 leads an oil guided a plunger guide 110 into an oil feeding groove 132 formed between an outer peripheral surface of the plunger guide 110 and an inner peripheral surface of an insertion part 100, a throttle part 136 comprised of an orifice throttle and a hydraulic pocket part 138 provided on an inner peripheral surface of the plunger guide 110 so as to face to the plunger 120, and is capable of supporting the plunger 120 as a hydrostatic bearing.
